Roxbury partnered with Detroit-based Walbridge on the renovation of the historic Globe Building at Detroit's William G. Milliken State Park on the city’s east riverfront into the State of Michigan’s award-winning Outdoor Adventure Center. Built in 1860 to house the Dry Dock Engine Works, the Globe was originally utilized as one of the largest ship-building facilities on the Great Lakes. The project preserved the majority of the building’s original steel framing while augmenting the structure to incorporate elements of new construction as part of a $12.8 million renovation of the facility. The property was completed in 2015 and transferred to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources as a year-round public facility which supports recreational, event and educational initiatives for the Millikan State Park and the park system generally.
